Harry Smith Shirt

$ 37.00

Harry Smith — painter, filmmaker, folklorist, musicologist and alchemist — lived and worked at Ace Hotel New York, formerly the Breslin Hotel, from 1976 to 1984. A seminal figure in postwar American culture, his Anthology of American Folk Music catalyzed the American folk revival of the 1960s and his collection of paper airplanes lives in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum.

Here's a reproduction of an installation hanging in Ace New York entitled Untitled String Piece from Stringing Along: Harry Smith Figures, Harry’s self-edited collection of string pieces. Made by Apolis from 100% cotton.
